Liga Adelante - Week 2 round-up

Our dismal beginning continues then, not much to shout about as the Tenerife players still struggle to play the Arconada way and suffer a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Salamanca.

8 teams remain undefeated with Betis at the top after beating Recreativo away. Pio's continue to add to our misery with an away draw that puts them in 7th (won't last).

CD Tenerife's next opponents Rayo have maximum points, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to beat Cordoba 2-3, whilst Barcelona B continue to (mildly) impress with a home win against Xerez. Elche have made a great start with a surprise win against fancied Cartagena to add to our cup defeat and last week's win against Recreativo.

We are joined in the bottom five by Numancia, Recreativo, Xerez and Granada. All five of us have yet to register a point.

Arconada's head not on the block yet, but with the players struggling to come to terms with his methods and ideas, we have a long way to go. A disappointing start indeed.

Liga Adelante - Week 1 round-up for CD Tenerife

Not the start we would have hoped for against Girona, but Cartagena & Barcelona B could have not asked for much more with away wins. Cartagena gave Xerez an absolute 4-1 thumping in their own backyard & Barce B beating Celta by the odd goal in three.

Other new arrivals to Liga Adelante Ponferradina & Alcorcon posted a respectable draw each, whereas Granada suffered a 4-1 away defeat at the hands of Betis.

Valladolid were the only relegated team to post a victory with a 3-0 win against Villareal B.

Rayo, Elche were the other winners of the week, well apart from some team who play in yellow that somehow overcame a deficit to win 3-2 last gasp.

Topping the table this week (with an effing long way to go) are Cartagena. Tenerife find themselves in 18th position with the home game against Salamanca on Sunday, hoping to tighten up the defence and maybe get a better scoring ratio than 2 out of 24 attempts, and maybe not rely on deflections too.

I'm still confident of a top six finish.
